The Significance of the Moon to Yoga  Close
If you are familiar with ashtanga yoga, you've probably been cautioned against practicing yoga at the time of a full or new moon.

This has little to do with the popular notion of higher incidences of accidents and birthings during full moons, but more to do with our internal energies at these times.

A full moon is the product of the sun and moon at opposite ends of each other, and the earth fixed between. This positioning causes both the sun and moon to gravitate to the earth, resulting in the pulling of tides in bodies of water. Alternately, a new moon occurs when both the sun and moon are in conjunction.

About the Teacher: Jason Pooley. Jason discovered yoga in 2002 whilst teaching tennis in Hong Kong. Having been involved in the tennis world for most of his life and playing at a high level, he found that yoga started to heal long-term injuries sustained through his game and this was just the start of something very special. After trying many different styles it was Power Vinyasa Yoga that Jason really felt at home with and he soon started to see and feel the benefits this particular style brought to his daily life – for example, a real sense of presence and clarity. flexible strength, lengthening and toning of muscles, sustained high energy levels with a deeper connection to both body and mind. Jason loves to share his passion and his own experiences of yoga which is why he founded The House of Yoga. It made perfect sense for him to begin his journey of teacher training in Power Yoga. He took his initial teacher training with Fred Busch – Miami Power Yoga and has since travelled to the US to train with Baron Baptiste , founder of the Baptiste Power Vinyasa Institute and will be travelling back to the US later this year to complete further training with Baron. Jason also recently completed another 200hr teacher training with Baptiste master teachers Gregor Singleton and Claire Este McDonald from Boston. You may well see him driving the streets of London in THoY smart car as he teaches Power Yoga for public, private and corporate clients as well as at various London yoga studios. Jason continues to teach tennis on a part time basis at the Harbour Club in Chelsea. His teaching is energetic, playful and fun and you will leave his classes feeling lighter and stronger in both body and mind.

Yoga Beats...
Start Date: December 11, 2012
You are here: Home / About Yogabeats About Yogabeats Yogabeats™ is more than just Yoga, it is pure fun, a practice driven by music and rhythms. Unapologetically sexy, empowering and provocative, leaving you higher than a kite and flying for the rest of the week. Yogabeats™ is yoga with a difference. The yoga is an eclectic mix of styles designed to accommodate all levels of fitness and ability. Rather than using fixed postures. Yogabeats™ uses “micro-moves”. These are continuous movements which do not lock off the muscles or disrupt the blood flow and increase flexibility. These micro-moves originated with David observing how children were unable to hold fixed static postures, the conundrum that became apparent was who in fact was the teacher, and at this point David began to adopt and implement the shifting movements within his own practice with startling results and benefits, which are now supported by physiotherapists and body workers. Yogabeats™ combines classic mobile yoga postures with the latest rhythmic and ambient world music. This involves a slow warm up section, the 1st half of the practice is designed to soften up the human ego, without austerity or force, but primarily by allowing, and fun, and asking the body itself for permission to “let go,” followed by a more intense second section, partner work and meditation. Yogabeats™ engages all of your physical senses and provides a natural high and feelings of joy in the body. It creates tremendous vitality, balance and flexibility regardless of size, age or experience. The Yogabeats ™High. While constant aerobic acitivities lower one’s immune system and stress the body -- Yogabeats™ boosts the body’s homeostasis immensly benefitting blood pressure, pulses, physical and cerebal responses -- way past the point that mere exercise requires or can achieve. Yogabeats evolved around the original agenda of Yoga; to create a natural “peak experience” or “high” in the body/mind continuum by clearing the stresses and tensions that accumulate, and which in turn returns the practitioner to a blissful equity and balance.
